Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Alguna Inc. handles information about people who visit alguna.com.
It does not cover the Alguna product. If you use Alguna as a customer, or you are a customer of a business that uses Alguna, see our Product Privacy Notice. Different practices apply there, under different legal bases.
What we collect
When you browse alguna.com, we collect automatically:
- Your IP address, and the approximate country and region we derive from it
- Your browser, operating system and device characteristics
- The pages you view, where you arrived from, and how you interact with the site
- Where you consent to marketing cookies, the organisation associated with your IP address
When you submit a form, book a demo or start a chat, we collect what you give us: usually your name, work email, company and your message.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We group these into three purposes.
Strictly necessary. Required for the site to work and for you to reach us. These always run and cannot be turned off. They include the cookie that records your cookie choices, a coarse location cookie used only to decide which privacy rules apply to you, our live chat widget, and our demo booking tool.
Analytics. Helps us understand which pages are useful and where visitors get stuck, so we can improve the site. We use PostHog and Google Analytics. These create a profile associated with your browser.
Marketing. Lets us measure which campaigns bring visitors here, recognise the organisation you are visiting from, and show relevant advertising on other websites. We use Google Ads and Snitcher. This involves disclosing information about your visit to those providers.
Your choices
When you first visit, we show a banner offering Accept all, Reject optional, and Cookie settings. You can change your choice at any time through the Cookie settings link in our footer.
Rejecting optional cookies does not affect live chat or demo booking. Those always work.
What runs before you choose
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, no analytics or marketing technologies run until you consent. Before you choose, our analytics counts page views without storing anything on your device.
If you are in California, no marketing technologies run until you consent.
Elsewhere, analytics and advertising measurement run when you arrive, and stop if you reject them.
Visitor identification never runs anywhere until you actively consent to marketing cookies.
If we cannot work out where you are, we apply the strictest rules.
How we use this information
To operate and improve the website. To understand which content and campaigns are useful. To respond when you contact us or ask for a demo. To keep the site secure and prevent abuse. To comply with our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
The analytics and advertising providers named above, and only for the purposes you have agreed to.
Our hosting, content and security providers, who process information on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell personal information for money.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not respond to Do Not Track signals, as no common standard for them has been adopted.
We do honor Global Privacy Control. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of sharing your information for advertising. Marketing technologies will not run, even if you select Accept all, and our cookie settings will show the Marketing category switched off with the reason.
GPC does not switch off analytics, which is first-party and is not shared with advertising networks. You can decline analytics separately in Cookie settings.
United States privacy rights
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information from website visitors:
- Identifiers — name, work email, IP address, cookie and device identifiers
- Customer records — name and business contact details you submit through our forms
- Internet or network activity — pages viewed, referring source, interactions with the site
- Geolocation data — approximate location inferred from your IP address
We do not collect the other categories defined under California law, including biometric information, precise geolocation, or information about race, religion, health or sexual orientation.
We do share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as that term is defined under California law, when you consent to marketing cookies. We do not sell personal information. We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16.
You can opt out at any time using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our footer, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to know what we hold, to have it deleted or corrected, and not to be treated differently for exercising these rights. Email [email protected].
How long we keep it
Your cookie choices are kept for six months. Your approximate location is kept for 24 hours. Analytics and advertising records are kept according to each provider's retention settings. What you send us through a form or chat is kept for as long as we are in contact with you about it.
International transfers
Our analytics and advertising providers process information in the United States. Where required, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent United Kingdom transfer mechanisms.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes to this notice
We may update this notice. Changes take effect when posted, and the date at the top will tell you when we last did.
